Bio of our Gideon Speaker this year...
I was born in 1945 in Ashland, KY, one of 4 sons to Christian parents and raised from the cradle roll of the First Baptist Church.  I felt the conviction to give my heart and life to Jesus at the age of 7 and have been blessed with His provisions in the ups and downs of my younger years.  I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1968 whereupon I was promptly drafted into the Army and served in Korea before my discharge in 1971.  I was blessed to be able to serve veterans as a career U.S. civil servant in the Loan Guarantee Division at the VA until my retirement in 1999.  Our Lord provided me with a wonderful Christian wife in 1980 and we had 38 blessed years together until she went Home to be with Jesus in late 2017.  I have ministered through the Gideons International since 1986 in various capacities and am currently the President of the Louisville Northwest Gideon Camp.  My goal is to better know and follow Jesus until He takes me Home to be with Him.         Dick Sloan
